Getting Through What You Can’t Get Over
Speaking to Christian Life Center — October, 2015
Telling God No / Women’s Groups and Religious Settings
In 2001, on her thirty-seventh birthday, Anita Brooks had an encounter with God. Until then, she hadn’t had a burning stick moment, much less a burning bush meeting. She never understood what people meant when they said God had spoken to them. But in a convenience store in the middle of the New Mexican desert, God indeed spoke. Her heart beating, afraid of what others would think if she honored His request, Anita said no. Tragic events unfolded only an hour later, and made Anita resolve never to disregard God’s call again. Come away from this session equally determined to hear and do when God calls on you.
I Once Was Blind / Women’s Groups and Religious Settings
Anita Brooks shares the true story of her temporary blindness. For five weeks she was unable to see more than blurry colors, and fuzzy outlines. And yet, she believed she was called to write. Sitting alone in a small white exam room, she cried out to God. Listen to her inspirational account of how initially doctors were unable to diagnose her, until through a miraculous series of events, she connected with a cornea specialist who helped her heal. Four years and a few articles later, her first book was published. Come away believing no matter what your circumstances, if you are called, you can succeed.
I Look Like My Daddy / Women’s Groups and Religious Settings
In 2010, a forty-seven year old secret was revealed, both personal and powerful, to Anita Brooks. It changed her life in shocking, yet positive ways. We know identity is important to our success as human beings, but experiencing its hold on us is dramatic. Identity shapes our thoughts, feelings, insights, opinions, choices, and decisions. Leave this session empowered to take the ashes of your life and allow them to be molded into a crown of beauty.
