Looking for another simple yet effective way to guarantee productivity? Don’t set yourself up for failure with tiny disruptions. One of the most common?
Food and drink.
Meet when you meet.
Eat when you eat.
As easy as that. Commonly, groups will spread goodies on a table close to the entrance door for meeting participants. But too often, munching mouths, clanking plates, sticky fingers, spilled glasses, impromptu bathroom breaks, and other secondary noises, distract from the message and purpose intended.
The next time you gather for something important, do the group a favor and schedule refreshment breaks either before or during the meeting time. You’ll be amazed at how quickly you get through the material, and will appreciate the amount of information your people retain.
There’s a place to meet and a place to eat. This one little change transformed the efficiency of the meetings I facilitate.
