What Makes Me Different?
Everything comes down to people. Whether we’re dealing with physical, mental, emotional, financial, relational, or spiritual matters, people are affected, and they impact situations–both professionally and personally. My entire life, I’ve been fascinated with what makes human beings tick–which led me to becoming a Certified Personality Trainer, Communications Specialist, and Training/Leadership Facilitator, after studying human nature for years.
My style? I get fired up about motivating and boosting morale and watching people’s faces light up when they learn something simple, yet powerful, that truly changes their lives.
12 Things Not Everyone Knows About Me
-
I don’t use profanity. (Even if I smash my thumb.)
-
I believe it’s better not to make a promise than to make one and break it. (Learned that from an ancient text I read regularly.)
-
I am a living donor–gave my left kidney over 20 years ago. It was one of the hardest and best experiences of my life. I’d do it over again in an instant.
-
I am a natural extrovert, but have taught myself that I have two ears and one mouth for a reason–I strive to listen twice as much as I speak in conversations. Most often I am successful, but if I get excited, I can quickly revert to who I am at my core.
-
On the outside, I appear confident (just ask my husband), but on the inside, I use self-talk in positive ways to motivate myself and keep me in forward motion. Taking courage is something I’ve exercised for years.
-
Coaching is more than a label for me, it’s an intrinsic wiring that I cannot turn off. As the oldest of six children, I’ve been leading, teaching, and guiding people all my life. I see things in people, processes, and possibilities that many others miss. (I’ve been called a mind-reader or clairvoyant, but I am neither.)
-
It’s not something I work at, but when I speak publicly, almost every time, I make grown women and men both laugh and cry.
-
I am equal parts strategic and tactical when it comes to processes, with an ability to consider crucial people aspects such as teamwork, invisible drains, morale, etc. I am practical, yet compassionate and open-minded. Others have said this puts me in a rare category of less than 2% of the population, but it’s pure instinct and drive for me.
-
I do not agree that anyone can be replaced. I believe some people align themselves with organizations and positions that are not good job-fits, and that sometimes the individual or their leaders must do the hard, right thing by forcing a change. But people are born to hunt until they discover their irreplaceable purpose in the world. When we find it, someone else may take the position, but things will never be quite the same.
-
I am a huge proponent of PDA–Public Displays of Appreciation. I’m not afraid of tough-love, but if more people heard encouragement and words of gratitude on a consistent basis, I believe we would see better results at work and at home, plus our happiness factor would dramatically rise.
-
I believe a thirst for knowledge is dangerous if not quenched with a hunger for wisdom.
-
I’m hopelessly devoted to an intrinsic belief in better outcomes before we see results. I not only say, “It’s never too late for a fresh start with fresh faith,” I live and teach this transformative philosophy.
