I’m down to less than two months before manuscript deadline. The researching is intense, and so is the writing. This is the point where my stress heightens as I battle worry.
Worry that I won’t get the book done in time.
Worry that it won’t be good enough.
At this stage, making supper is a big deal, so my husband cooks at least half of the time. (You’ve got to love a supportive man.)
But this is also the period where I need to lean on God the most. Otherwise, I might fall apart. Allowing insecurity and an overwhelming knowledge that there aren’t enough hours in the day or enough of me to go around to meet my responsibilities.
But then I remember. God is the Creator of Time. He can make more for me. And when I ask, He is always faithful. It’s that whole, “You have not because you ask not,” philosophy.
You’d think He would be the first place I run to, but too often, I forget, allowing my emotions to distract me, and getting myself all fizzed up. But when I remember, He provides. So I’m making it an intentional habit to do more asking.
Once September 1st comes and goes, I’ll celebrate the relief that always comes from completing a huge project. Writing books is hard, otherwise everyone who thinks or talks about it would do it. But acting on the desire is very different from dreaming. For me, it’s not enough to be a dreamer only, I want to be a doer.
So I keep typing on. Hoping the words flow in a way that not only makes sense, but truly help and encourage others. Praying my emotions don’t get the better of me. Trusting the Creator of Time to give me all I need. And when the deadline arrives, believing I’ll cross the finish line.
